Community Groups

Moyston is very lucky to have an active community with many clubs and associations which are listed below. Our community is well placed to deliver a range of activities and events, bringing our little community together.

  • Moyston CFA

    Location: 33 Campbells Reef Rd, Moyston

    About: Moyston CFA is a Brigade in the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and has responsibility for fire and other emergencies as defined in the Victorian Emergency Management Act.

    The brigade is part of the wider Ararat Group and assists as required by the CFA across the State and Interstate.

    Membership of the brigade is Community Volunteers both male and female from across the Moyston District.

  • Moyston Hall Committee

    Location: Moyston Hall - 12 Brooke St, Moyston

    About: Moyston Hall Committee manages the Moyston Hall for ARCC, with our own events and community hire. The Hall also provides a home for a local history collection.

  • Moyston Landcare

    About: Moyston Landcare focuses on a variety of local environmental issues. Community engagement, walks and education are also a important part of group activities.

    Quarterly meetings and working bees are held at various sites in the area. New members of any age are most welcome!

  • Moyston Crafters

    Location: Moyston Town Hall

    About: Makers and crafters, getting together to share projects (and coffee).

    When: Every Tuesday 10am

    Cost: $5 (approx) for a coffee from Moyston general Store, and $1 towards Hall hire.

  • Moyston Progress Association

    Location: Moyston Town Hall

    About: We are working to improve the amenities and liveability for the whole community through the Moyston Community Action Plan.

    The small group welcomes any locals to join, to share ideas or perhaps help with the organisation of the Annual Easter Saturday Market.

    We are also the creators and custodians of this website.

  • Moyston Primary School Council

    Location: Moyston Primary School

    About: A forum for school families/community members to be involved with our fantastic little school. There are various fundraising efforts including hosting community dinners.

    Volunteers from the community are always welcome at the school to pass on any knowledge or skills to the next generation of our community, or to simply assist students with reading.

  • Moyston Sheep Dog Club

    Location: Recreational Reserve

    About: The Moyston Sheepdog Trials are the oldest annual sheepdog trials in Victoria, possibly Australia. They have been held at the picturesque Moyston Oval, adjacent to the main tourist road from Ararat to Halls Gap since 1928.

  • Cemetery Trust

    Location: Cemetery Rd, Moyston

  • Moyston Public Parks Committee

    About: Moyston Public Parks is a Committee of up to 9 Volunteers from the Moyston Community who manage DELWP Land and Infrastructure around Moyston with the most prominent being the Moyston Recreation Reserve including all Community facilities at The Recreation Reserve.

    Elections of this Committee are held every 3 Years.

  • Moyston Men's Walking Group

    Location: Moyston Recreation Reserve

    When: Thursday mornings

    Time: 10am

    About: This informal group meet weekly to walk around the oval for an hour, and then enjoy a coffee at the Moyston General Store.

    Well behaved dogs on a lead are also welcome.

 Moyston Sporting Clubs

  • Moyston Willaura Football Netball Club

    Location: Recreational Reserve

    About: The Moyston Willaura Pumas compete in the Mininera & District Football League.

    The club prides itself on being a family club with an emphasis on junior participation and social involvement.

    New players and members are always welcome.

  • Rhymney / Moyston Cricket Club

    Location: Moyston Recreational Reserve

    When: Practise on Thursday evenings, matches on Saturday afternoons.

    About: Part of the Grampians Cricket Association. New players most welcome. Also an Under 13 team if there are sufficient numbers (boys and girls).

  • Moyston Petanque Club

    Location: Recreational Reserve

    About: All are made welcome to come and have a game with us. All equipment is supplied.

    When: Friday afternoons (3:00pm till late) and Sunday afternoons (2:30pm – 6:00).
