On the first Friday of every month, the town gathers at the sports pavilion for the Moyston Community Dinner. Everyone comes out to share a lovely meal, with people young and old and families too, sitting down to share the meal.
Everyone mingles over a drink before dinner and children run off together to play; table hopping seems the best way to catch up with everyone between dinner and dessert.

Moyston Easter Market
Set in the picturesque foothills of the Grampians, the 2022 Moyston Easter Market will be held on Easter Saturday, 16th April between 9am and 2pm, at the Moyston Oval. It will have something for everyone!
Sheepdog Trials
The Moyston Sheepdog Trials are the oldest annual sheepdog trials in Victoria, possibly Australia. They have been held at the picturesque Moyston Oval, adjacent to the main tourist road from Ararat to Halls Gap since 1928. Four obstacles, 3 sheep and one dog - sounds easy, what could possibly go wrong? It is set up to mirror tasks and skills a good farm sheepdog needs to possess. The dogs must do all the work, unaided by the handler, who only can give instruction by whistle or words. The obstacles are a gap, race, bridge and finally a pen. Time allowed is 15 minutes. There are rules of course, and a scoring system. Most of the dogs are beautiful Border Collies, with a few Kelpies. The handlers are men and women of all ages, often retired farmers. Excellent country catering is available everyday. Morning and afternoon tea is $5 and a 2 course lunch is $12. Visitors and spectators are most welcome for a gold coin entry.
